Microsoft will release Internet Explorer 9 on March 14 at SXSW

Update: Microsoft has now confirmed IE9's release at 9pm Pacific Time on March 14.According to a source that's intimately familiar with the situation, Microsoft will release the final version of Internet Explorer 9 at the SXSW conference on March 14.
This information tallies nicely with what we already know: Microsoft has said that there will only be one RC, and March 14 very nearly fits the six-week release cycle that Internet Explorer has so far stuck to. Most importantly, though, the IE team is holding a party at SXSW -- and parties generally celebrate something.
Microsoft has already said that the RC will automatically update to the final version, but we're not sure whether a switch will be flipped at the SXSW party, or if we'll have to wait for the next Patch Tuesday. Either way, a direct download should be made available around 9pm on March 14.
If you haven't played around with the Release Candidate yet, you really should. It won't satisfy you if you're an avid add-on user, or if you sync between computers, but if you're just looking for a slick, spartan and speedy browser, IE9 ticks all the boxes.

TBH I think Chrome is a better bet on a MS OS..

Oh and its faster and available now.
And its creator is Google (the good guys) not MS (the morally ambiguous guys).
Also you should mention XP users need not apply :-)

@SilverWave I think the Good/Bad thing is getting a bit old now -- and Microsoft has certainly paid its penance for its past misdemeanors!
It's more about whether a company's vision lines up with your own.
IE9 definitely represents a change in MS's vision, tho' -- you'd be forgiven for being somewhat cautious :)

True true... my vision is more do the right thing... hence as you say Google matches this most of the time.
Now you may have others who have a vision more in tune with MS's.. so business/big media/drm focused, aggressive, non-consumer friendly, marketing lead, innovation adverse, patent monger.
As you say its dependent on the vision thing.

I used to read Slashdot daily. I used to hate Microsoft as much as the next bearded person.
Google is definitely mega-awesome. Anyone who innovates should be respected!
I just don't know if I can hate on a browser because it was made by a company that has some questionable practices.
(But also, I don't have a problem with buying clothes made in Chinese sweat shops...)

e.g. When you face real hackers Crome is the only one not hacked.
I am always a little sceptical of those IE is "not complete crap" claims the ones I have checked into always seem to have accepted money from ms.

I wonder how many people faced the problem of being unable to post a message in Blogger with all the IE 9 ( till the Beta to the RC). I'm not very optimistic that they (Microsoft) will fix it before release. But it's a shame (it worked on previous version of IE). They should not be hurry that much, this product is still terribly unstable.

FAIL! SXSW? Austin is about a 75% Mac market. Maybe more. And what does IE9 have to do with a Music Film festival anyway?
